"The Last Leaf" by O Henry
"The Red Headed League" by Conan Doyle
Vocabulary for each story will be tested.
Literary elements of the short story will be introduced.
Writing: essay format and topics will be introduced.
Term 2 Literature:
"Secret Life of Walter Mitty" by James Thurber
"Barbara Frietchie" by John Greenleaf Whittier (poem)
"O Captain! My Captain!" by Walt Whitman (poem)
"I Escape from the Boers" by Winston Churchill
"The Story of my Life" by Helen Keller
"Struggle for an Education" by Booker T. Washington
"Four Years in a Shed" by Eve Curie
Vocabulary for each story will be tested as well as literary techniques.
Writing: persuasive essay, essay from an outline and business letters will be introduced.
You will be responsible for an up to date notebook that will be checked and graded.
